Hi! I’m Claire: mum of four, outdoor enthusiast, hat lover and rom-com-action movie fan addict (sorry). I am also owner of The Artisan Cake Kitchen.
Four years ago, my husband, three boys and I bought a run-down long retired dairy farm in Staplehurst, Kent. It proved to be life changing. I became pregnant with our daughter soon afterwards and following her arrival, decided to change the direction of my professional life.
I am a qualified Design Engineer and before creating bespoke cakes and treats I taught Mathematics in various schools for 15 years. Both taught me to be calm under pressure and the need to be flexible and adaptable, no matter what the situation.
Creativity has always been in my soul and my hobby of creating my kids cakes became bigger and braver and more experimental. Word spread. A friend asked me to make her son’s birthday cake and my journey began. I haven’t looked back since. Over the past year since my launch into full time cakes, I have created countless cakes for events, been published in nine online journals, magazines and wedding blogs.
The highlight of my first year was attending a wedding fair. This was one of those events that will live with me forever. I drove through floods with 5 wedding cakes in the boot and then had to set up inside a beautiful tipi. Oh, I think I forgot to say that this was all during Storm Dennis!! However, the cakes all survived and the tipi stayed put.
I love making sugar flowers and including modern techniques on my cakes. I find inspiration in nature, architecture and always make cakes as unique as you are. You will find me friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make your dream cake into a reality.
Do get in touch and we can get started on your cake journey,
